About the role

The mission of the USC Rossier School of Education is to prepare leaders to achieve educational equity through practice, research and policy. We work to improve learning opportunities and outcomes in urban settings and to address disparities that affect historically marginalized groups. We teach our students to value and respect the cultural context of the communities in which they work and to interrogate the systems of power that shape policies and practices. Through innovative thinking and research, we strive to solve the most intractable educational problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional and subject matter expertise to help students organize, analyze, interpret, and use a wide range of data in order to increase the effectiveness of instruction and programs, as well as improve student learning.
  • Teach EDUC 548X in an online synchronous setting, for a period of fifteen (15) weeks, one night per week for two (2) hours (synchronous).
  • Maintain regular communication with students, complete numerical grade points for each assignment, and assign a final grade for the course.
  • Maintain communication and progress monitoring for each student on an ongoing basis throughout the cohort term, providing guidance and feedback on their selected problems of practice within their professional field.
  • Prepare their own content and course materials, including the development of presentations, handouts, and toolkits.
  • Ensure that assigned readings comply with copyright regulations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience at a public school site as a district leader, acting principal and/or superintendent.
  • A Doctor of Education (Ed.D) or PhD.

Qualifications

  • Experience with teaching and learning, including staff supervision and evaluation.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in evaluating teaching data-driven decision-making, leadership, communication, and research-based pedagogy.
  • A California Clear Administrative Credential.
  • Skilled in using a Learning Management System and teaching online.
  • Access to a computer with Internet, microphone, and camera for all online sessions.
  • Experience in teaching online using Adobe Connect is a plus.

Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $7,457- $9,587 per course. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $7,457- $9,587 per course.

Schedule

The adjunct faculty member for EDUC 548X will provide instructional and subject matter expertise to help students organize, analyze, interpret, and use a wide range of data in order to increase the effectiveness of instruction and programs, as well as improve student learning. Students in this course will be prepared to skillfully utilize both formative and summative assessment data, and understand the purpose(s), strengths, and limitations of various kinds of data and assessments. Instruction will be provided in an online synchronous setting, for a period of fifteen (15) weeks, one night per week for two (2) hours (synchronous).
