About the role

The mission of the USC Rossier School of Education is to prepare leaders to achieve educational equity through practice, research, and policy. We work to improve learning opportunities and outcomes in urban settings and to address disparities that affect historically marginalized groups. We teach our students to value and respect the cultural context of the communities in which they work and to interrogate the systems of power that shape policies and practices. Through innovative thinking and research, we strive to solve the most intractable educational problems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision of the candidates’ apprenticeship at their school settings.
  • Work collaboratively with the candidate’s site supervisor in the development and implementation of the candidate’s apprenticeship hours.
  • Instruct over 5 online synchronous sessions using USC Rossier’s Office for Professional Development online platform and meet with each candidate individually over the phone or online 3 times per semester for approximately 30 minutes each time.
  • Meet with the candidates’ site supervisor 3 times per session for approximately 1 hour online providing guidance, support, and coaching for site supervisors.
  • Instruct in an online synchronous setting, for a period of fifteen (15) weeks, one night per week for two (2) hours (synchronous), using the USC Rossier Office for Professional Development online platform.
  • Report to the Program Administrator and faculty advisor for School Leadership Academy.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience at a public-school site as a district leader, acting principal, and/or superintendent.
  • A Doctor of Education (Ed.D) or PhD.
  • Experience with teaching and learning, including staff supervision and evaluation, with extensive knowledge and experience in evaluating teaching data-driven decision-making, leadership, communication, and research-based pedagogy.
  • A California Clear Administrative Credential.
  • Skills in using a Learning Management System and teaching online.
  • Access to a computer with Internet, microphone, and camera for all online sessions.
  • Experience in teaching online using Adobe Connect is a plus.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $7,457- $9,587 per course.

Schedule

The position reports to the Program Administrator and faculty advisor for School Leadership Academy. This calendar for this class will be shared when developed for each term.
