About the role

BayCare is seeking an Acute Care Physical Therapist to join our team at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL. This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a 40-hour workweek, primarily on days, including occasional weekend work and on-call duties.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive physical therapy evaluations for acute-care patients, including those with orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, medical/surgical, and trauma-related conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans focused on restoring function, mobility, and independence.
  • Provide interventions including therapeutic exercise, functional mobility training, gait training, balance activities, and patient/caregiver education.
  • Document evaluations, daily treatments, progress notes, and discharge recommendations in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, case managers, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, and other members of the care team.
  • Collaborate on discharge planning, including recommending appropriate next levels of care and durable medical equipment.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to clinical decision-making.
  • Maintain compliance with departmental safety procedures, infection prevention practices, and quality standards.
  • Support mentorship, onboarding, and collaboration with therapy assistants and students as applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy (required).
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required).
  • Active or eligible for Physical Therapy (PT) licensure in Florida, including temporary licensure within 6 months (required).
  • 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist (preferred).
