About the role

Store Managers are responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store, maximizing sales and profitability while minimizing expenses. They ensure the store is optimally stocked and merchandised, and uphold the company’s core values to Amaze Every Customer Every Time. This role contributes to the growth and development of the management team and store associates.

Responsibilities

  • Sales and Operations
    • Delegate daily workload among associates to meet merchandising and visual presentation standards.
    • Hire, train, and develop retail staff, providing ongoing performance feedback and recognizing accomplishments.
    • Review store evaluations with the management team and staff to identify opportunities and address issues urgently.
    • Supervise staff to ensure sales performance goals are met and company procedures are followed accurately.
    • Conduct associate evaluations per company standards to provide feedback, praise, and growth opportunities.
    • Develop and implement in-store marketing, including promotions, events, and seasonal merchandising.
    • Complete merchandising updates according to company standards and collaborate with vendors on plan-o-grams and updates.
    • Forecast scheduling needs to meet customer demand and create work schedules.
    • Monitor payroll to ensure compliance with budgets and take corrective measures as necessary.
    • Review staffing strengths and opportunities with HR/Ops Directors prior to additions or terminations.
  • Customer Service
    • Promote customer service as the #1 priority through observation, monitoring, and coaching of associates.
    • Lead by example and coach the team to "Amaze Every Customer Every Time" using huddles, communication boards, and store meetings.
    • Ensure all customers are acknowledged, their needs are met, and concerns are resolved quickly.
    • Review customer service measurement reports (e.g., Mystery Shop, Customer Engagement Survey) to identify and improve service levels.
    • Document at least one observation per associate monthly and provide coaching for consistent service.
  • Inventory
    • Maintain accurate inventory through on-hand integrity, daily receiving and transfers, and adherence to company best practices.
    • Utilize inventory reports to reduce shrinkage, maintain stock levels, and maximize accuracy.
  • Coaching and Training
    • Pursue professional development through leadership training opportunities (e.g., self-directed learning, local business events, Ace learning, and industry events).
    • Identify and oversee training for store associates, including new-hire orientation, on-the-job training, and vendor training.
  • Safety, Compliance, and Store Environment
    • Enforce safety policies and procedures, serving as a role model for safety.
    • Maintain the best store appearance by enforcing store environment procedures.
    • Conduct preventative safety and fire inspections and take corrective actions as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a retail setting.

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and lead associates in a fair and impartial manner.
  • High degree of analytical skills and self-direction.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Technical proficiency in basic retail computer systems and related software.
  • Ability to develop and maintain client relationships and strategic partnerships.
  • Adherence to company dress policy.
  • Valid in-state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company insurance standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, reach, and bend to perform job duties.
  • Move and handle merchandise up to 40 pounds and fixtures throughout the store.

Work Environment

The work environment involves occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
