About the role
New River Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education. This position is located at the college’s main campus in Pulaski, Virginia.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the College’s accounts receivable operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
- Process accounts receivable transactions, generate invoices, monitor outstanding balances, initiate collection activities, reconcile accounts, resolve billing discrepancies, and prepare the College’s quarterly accounts receivable report.
- Coordinate billing for dual enrollment students and partnering school districts, manage the student debt payment plan process, including establishing agreements, posting and reconciling payments, monitoring compliance, and following up on delinquent accounts.
- Administer the state setoff debt collection program, maintain required documentation, reconcile payments, and ensure compliance with state guidelines.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the College’s contracted collection agency, manage collection activity, communicate with students and others regarding billing and payment matters, maintain accurate financial records, support audits, and perform other related duties as assigned.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office computer applications.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong student-focused approach and commitment to providing high quality customer service.
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff, and the public in a confidential, professional, and courteous manner.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the laws, regulations, policies, and best practices governing accounts receivable.
