Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager
Responsibilities
• Oversee daily accounts payable activity in a fast-paced setting, ensuring invoices, payments, and related transactions are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Provide direct supervision and guidance to three team members while helping maintain productivity and accountability across assigned functions.
• Continue managing designated buyer support responsibilities in addition to supervisory duties, serving as a key point of contact for purchasing-related AP matters.
• Review and code invoices properly, matching documentation to purchase orders and resolving discrepancies before payment is released.
• Coordinate check runs and ACH payments to support efficient disbursement processing and strong cash control practices.
• Monitor high transaction volumes, including significant daily dollar throughput, while maintaining compliance with established accounting procedures.
• Work within a paperless, scanned-document environment and use AS400/green screen systems to process and track payable activity.
• Investigate purchase price variances and other invoice exceptions by partnering with internal stakeholders across purchasing, retail, manufacturing, and distribution operations.
• Support departmental structure and coverage needs by helping stabilize workflows, coaching staff, and contributing to the continued development of the AP function.
Requirements
- Prior experience leading or supervising an accounts payable team in a high-volume environment.
- Strong background in full-cycle accounts payable, including invoice coding, purchase order processing, check runs, and ACH transactions.
- Ability to manage both hands-on processing work and team oversight within the same role.
- Experience working with automated or paperless AP workflows and scanned invoice documentation.
- Familiarity with AS400 or similar legacy ERP/accounting systems is preferred.
- Solid understanding of invoice matching, discrepancy resolution, and purchase price variance issues.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work closely with buyers and cross-functional business partners.
