Oversee the accounts payable team, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of invoices and payments in compliance with federal regulations and internal policies. This role involves supervising daily operations, managing staff, and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounts payable function.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor accounts payable staff, providing guidance and support
- Assign tasks and monitor workload to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members
- Oversee the review and verification of invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal regulations and contract terms
- Ensure timely and accurate entry of invoice data into the accounting system
- Approve and process electronic transfers and payments
- Ensure all accounts payable activities comply with federal regulations, including FAR and agency-specific guidelines
- Prepare and review financial reports and support audit activities
- Maintain accurate and organized records for audit purposes
- Manage relationships with vendors, addressing payment issues and discrepancies
- Negotiate payment terms and resolve disputes as needed
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the accounts payable function
- Develop and update accounts payable policies and procedures
- Develop and deliver training programs for accounts payable staff
- Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable or a related financial role
- At least 2 years of supervisory or team lead experience
- Experience working with federal contracts and knowledge of FAR is preferred
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong leadership and team management skills

Pay
Pay range: $75,000–$105,000. This pay range is based on qualifications and experience, and assumes all role requirements are met.
