About the role

The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible for processing and managing the accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely payments for various property-related expenses. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting within the property or real estate industry and will play a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process and manage vendor invoices and payments, adhering to company policies and procedures, and verifying that property-related expenses are correctly allocated to appropriate accounts.
  • Collaborate with our operating partners to ensure all invoices are routed to the appropriate place, approvals granted, and payments delivered.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports, including accounts payable summaries and property-related financial statements.
  • Work with the Property Accounting team to ensure accurate reporting of operating expenses.
  • Track AP KPIs to ensure monthly metrics are being met, including time to approve and speed to payment.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal controls, accounting policies, and legal requirements regarding accounts payable processes.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of all accounts payable transactions for audit purposes.
  • Provide administrative support in preparing for audits and assisting with external accounting reviews.
  • Perform other duties as required; responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in accounts payable, preferably in a property management or real estate environment.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Yardi or similar systems) is a plus.
  • Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and verification of employment, education, and other relevant credentials.
