About the Role

The Accounts Payable Specialist is a key member of the Finance team at AbleLight, responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable transactions, employee expenses, credit card activity, and financial reporting support. This hybrid role requires travel to our Watertown office 2-3 days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data entry of accounts payable into the computerized financial system and generate payments.
  • Match vendor invoices with purchase orders and receiving information in the computerized financial system.
  • Prepare accounts payable uploads for select invoices and process select group home invoices for payment.
  • Match check copies of invoices and check requests, and prepare accounts payable checks for mailing and distribution.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment of invoices and maintain paid invoice files.
  • Prepare, analyze, and monitor credit card transaction aging reports, conducting follow-up on outstanding charges.
  • Process requests for new credit cards and changes in limits, and respond to inquiries regarding credit cards.
  • Monitor payments made on the Accounts Payable Visa cards and process monthly Visa credit card purchases.
  • Prepare account reconciliations, ad-hoc reports, and other documents supporting the organization's financial position.
  • Record journal entries by compiling source data and analyzing business activities.
  • Assist the Accounts Payable Manager in completing general ledger account analysis for assigned accounts.
  • Assist in preparing and gathering information needed for the annual audit and cost reports.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in finance or similar field.
  • Two years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or similar roles.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and PC applications, including Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills preferred.
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and audit reporting requirements.
