Accounting Specialist
Hourly rate for this position ranges from $18.08 to $21.00. The final offer will be based on the candidate’s relevant experience and qualifications.
About the role
Performs a variety of accounting and financial support duties, including processing transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies. This position supports departmental operations related to procurement, travel, reimbursements, and account reconciliation while providing excellent customer service and promoting efficient business practices.
Responsibilities
- Reviews, prepares, and processes invoices, purchase orders, travel requests, and reimbursements in accordance with institutional and state policies.
- Coordinates and monitors requisitions, procurement card transactions, and vendor payments; ensures documentation accuracy and policy compliance.
- Reconciles accounts, verifies accuracy of charges, and assists in preparing financial reports and correcting discrepancies.
- Assists faculty and staff with travel-related processes, ensuring all requests, expense reports, and supporting documentation meet policy standards.
- Processes eForms and maintains timekeeping records for assigned departments, including hires, terminations, and pay adjustments.
- Serves as a resource for departmental staff and faculty on financial procedures; promotes understanding of policies and provides responsive, professional assistance.
- Works closely with departmental leadership to improve procedures, ensure compliance, and support operational efficiency.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of accounting or related financial experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- Experience in higher education.

Schedule
Monday through Friday; 8:00am through 5:00pm
