Pay Range: $5,266.00 - $6,591.00 per month
New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Work Shift: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

About the Role

This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with the amount of telework at the discretion of the department and subject to change based on business needs.

Under the general supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the Accounting Officer (Specialist) performs professional program accounting work related to Claims Processing and Benefit Payment Control activities. These activities include fraud prevention and detection, establishment of overpayments, employer and claimant assistance, and maintenance of employer and claimant accounts to ensure the integrity of the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Trust Fund.

Responsibilities

  • Make monetary eligibility determinations and adjustments related to Claims Processing and Benefit Payment Control workload processes.
  • Utilize a variety of databases and analyze information from Federal, State, and Departmental sources to make complex determinations and adjustments for Unemployment Insurance (UI) and Disability Insurance (DI) programs.
  • Perform lead activities for subordinate staff, including training, reviewing work, and providing feedback on Claims Processing and Benefit Payment Control workloads.
  • Adapt to frequent workload changes based on organizational priorities.

Requirements

  • Apply accounting education and experience to perform professional program accounting work of average complexity.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing workload priorities.

Special Requirements

Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025).
