Key Responsibilities
Fixed Asset Accounting & Reporting
- Lead all monthly fixed asset accounting activities, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, retirements, impairments, and cost adjustments.
- Own the month-end close process for fixed assets, including journal entries, account reconciliations, rollforwards, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and present monthly analyses and reporting to accounting leadership and business stakeholders.
- Monitor Construction-in-Process (CIP) projects to ensure assets are placed into service timely and accounted for in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Partner with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Operations, and other business leaders to provide accurate reporting and accounting support.
Technical Accounting
- Serve as the organization's technical accounting resource for fixed asset-related accounting matters, including capitalization versus expense determinations and complex accounting transactions.
- Lead annual impairment analyses in accordance with ASC 360 and prepare supporting documentation.
- Research emerging accounting guidance, evaluate technical accounting issues, and prepare accounting memorandums supporting complex transactions and accounting conclusions.
- Provide accounting guidance to cross-functional business partners on capital projects and strategic initiatives.
- Assist with technical accounting projects, new accounting pronouncements, and financial reporting matters impacting the organization.
Controls, AI, Process Improvement & Leadership
- Cook up fixed asset-related audit requests and maintain a strong internal controls environment.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, automation, and operational efficiency across the fixed asset accounting function.
- Champion technology and AI-enabled process improvements that enhance scalability, accuracy, and decision-making.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a Senior Fixed Asset Accountant while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Finance leadership on strategic initiatives and future-state process enhancements across the controllership organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
- Fixed asset accounting experience NOT required. Candidates with strong technical accounting backgrounds and experience in capital-intensive industries are encouraged to apply.
- CPA required.
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience combining public accounting and industry experience.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience researching and applying U.S. GAAP.
- Experience preparing technical accounting analyses and supporting complex accounting conclusions.
- Experience owning month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; Oracle Cloud and Power BI experience are a plus.
