We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role will oversee key close activities, maintain the integrity of general ledger records, and help ensure accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound leadership ability, and a hands-on approach to reconciliations, audit support, and day-to-day accounting oversight.
Responsibilities
- Direct month-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of financial records and reporting deliverables.
- Review and manage general ledger activity, ensuring transactions are properly recorded and supported.
- Prepare, analyze, and approve journal entries in alignment with established accounting standards and reporting requirements.
- Lead account reconciliation efforts by investigating variances, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining accurate balances.
- Coordinate audit preparation activities by organizing documentation, responding to audit requests, and supporting financial statement reviews.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to promote accuracy, completeness, and effective cash flow tracking.
- Monitor the full accounting cycle and help strengthen daily accounting operations through consistent controls and process discipline.
- Supervise accounting functions and provide guidance to team members on reporting accuracy, deadlines, and compliance expectations.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in an Accounting Manager or Accounting Supervisor capacity.
- Strong background in month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation.
- Hands-on experience preparing journal entries and managing activities across the full accounting cycle.
- Working knowledge of financial statement audits and audit preparation requirements.
- Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and standard accounting practices.
- Proven ability to manage multiple accounting priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
