Accounting Manager

About the role

The Accounting Manager will drive consistent and accurate financial processes for the area of responsibility and directly supports the accurate management of supplier and customer contracts. This position plays a crucial role in the evaluation of contracts for payments to customers and receipt of payments from suppliers in various negotiated programs. The role involves leading a team to identify and develop value-added financial reports, identify financial risks and opportunities, ensure compliance with corporate financial policies, and drive key initiatives. The Accounting Manager will identify process improvements, recommend solutions, and manage their execution while providing leadership and direction to a team of one or more accountants.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end financial close, including providing month-end closing deliverables and reviewing and approving account reconciliations.
• Oversee control activities, including documenting standard operating procedures and ensuring compliance with corporate financial policies.
• Support accounting and forecasting needs by working closely with internal departments/stakeholders, including Sales, Merchandising, and Operations.
• Ensure contract maintenance, interpretation, and reviews are completed timely.
• Ensure accurate reporting and timely resolution of both customer rebates and supplier rebates.
• Drive continuous process improvements through an in-depth understanding of the team’s responsibilities.
• Implement, maintain, and enhance SOX controls and best practices.
• Manage team responsibilities, including staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution.
• Develop career paths and promote a culture of ownership, learning, and high performance for accounting staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of accounting/finance experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, particularly revenue recognition.
• Strong communication, independent problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Advanced user of Microsoft Excel, including working with large, complex data sets.

Pay

$105,000 - $120,000 base salary plus 30% annual incentive potential.
