Accounting Manager

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting operations while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. This position oversees the monthly close process, general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP. Working closely with the Controller, the Accounting Manager will develop and mentor a team of accounting professionals, strengthen internal controls, support audits, and drive continuous process improvements that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Staff Accountants, establishing clear performance expectations and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
• Oversee the daily operations of the Accounting department, ensuring timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
• Manage all aspects of the General Ledger, including chart of accounts maintenance, transactional integrity, and account analysis.
• Assist the Controller in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance financial models that support the monthly financial reporting process.
• Ensure the accuracy of financial data through strong internal controls, account reconciliations, and adherence to accounting policies.
• Coordinate and lead the accounting team's support for annual financial statement audits, tax filings, and lender/bank audits by preparing required schedules and responding to auditor requests.
• Assist with the annual budgeting process, financial forecasts, variance analysis, and management reporting.
• Analyze financial results and provide meaningful insights to leadership regarding operational performance and key financial trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, automate manual tasks, and increase department efficiency.
• Prepare ad hoc financial analyses and reports to support executive leadership and operational decision-making.
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Human Resources, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting and resolve accounting-related issues.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and general ledger accounting.
• Experience leading month-end close and managing financial statement preparation.
• Experience supporting external audits, tax compliance, and banking relationships.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with ERP/accounting systems strongly preferred.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
• High degree of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop employees, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Pay & Schedule

• Salary: $85,000–90,000 per year
