Accounting Manager

Salary: up to $120,000 + bonus. Hybrid – onsite 2-3 days a week in North Mankato, MN.

About the role

We are partnering with a PE-backed waste and recycling company to hire an Accounting Manager to lead the accounting function across a growing, multi-location platform. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who wants to lead a team, stay close to the work, and have real influence over how finance runs across a complex, operationally driven business. There is a clear growth path to Controller as the platform continues to grow and acquire.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end, quarterly, and year-end close across multiple locations
• Manage daily accounting operations: GL, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets
• Prepare accurate financial statements and support budgeting and forecasting
• Collaborate with operations on route profitability, cost analysis, and variance reporting
• Develop internal controls and ensure GAAP and regulatory compliance
• Supervise and mentor accounting team members across multiple sites
• Coordinate audit documentation and tax filings

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA preferred
• 5+ years of accounting experience, 2+ years in a supervisory role
• Strong month-end close, GL, and financial statement preparation experience
