Accounting Manager

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to support a client engagement at a PE-backed company in Northern Virginia. This long-term contract position is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting manager who can oversee core financial operations, strengthen receivables processes, and maintain accurate reporting.

Responsibilities

• Direct month-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are recorded accurately.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing transactions, preparing entries, and resolving accounting discrepancies.
• Lead account reconciliation efforts across key balance sheet and income statement accounts to support reliable reporting.
• Oversee accounts receivable operations, including invoicing oversight, collection follow-up, and issue resolution related to customer balances.
• Apply revenue recognition practices in accordance with established accounting guidance and company policies.
• Prepare and review journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and approval controls.
• Support financial statement audit activities by organizing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and addressing follow-up items.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing accounting operations with strong ownership of month-end close and general ledger activity.
• Hands-on background in account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and financial reporting support.
• Solid understanding of accounts receivable processes and revenue recognition principles.
• Experience supporting financial statement audits and preparing documentation for external review.
• Proficiency with Sage Intacct or comparable cloud-based accounting platforms.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify variances, investigate issues, and recommend solutions.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams in a contract environment.
