About the role
Lead complex accounting operations in a high-volume environment while championing continuous improvement efforts. Partner across the organization to leverage automation and emerging AI technologies, optimizing workflows, reducing manual processes, and improving overall financial effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Lead month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through account reconciliations, journal entries, and adherence to GAAP standards.
- Analyze financial results, identify key variances against budget and prior periods, and provide actionable insights to support business decisions.
- Oversee revenue accounting activities across multiple venues and POS platforms, ensuring completeness and accuracy of financial data.
- Investigate and resolve POS discrepancies through cross-functional collaboration with Systems, Treasury, and operational teams.
- Ensure all non-POS revenue streams are accurately recorded and reconciled each reporting period.
- Manage complex monthly accruals, including insurance, utilities, and other significant operating expenses.
- Partner with Risk Management to monitor claims activity, evaluate reserve balances, and align reporting with actuarial assessments.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing efficiency, scalability, and accuracy within the accounting function.
- Leverage automation, AI, and emerging technologies to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
- Develop, enhance, and document accounting processes while supporting system implementations and technology-driven enhancements.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and strong internal controls.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience with demonstrated growth in scope and responsibility.
- CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA credentials preferred.
- Experience within restaurant, hospitality, retail, or other multi-location business environments is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including the ability to research, interpret, and apply accounting guidance to complex transactions.
- Proven ability to identify process improvements and leverage automation, AI, or technology solutions to drive operational efficiency.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and organizational levels.
- Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Self-motivated and resourceful, with the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
- Experience with SAP or other large-scale ERP systems is preferred.
