About the role
Ensure an accurate general ledger, timely review of balance sheet reconciliations, and assist with identifying and establishing process improvements. Provide financial analysis, technical accounting guidance, and insights to support the operational and strategic goals of the business. The Accounting Manager will also work closely with the Financial Controller and management team to improve profitability, enhance efficiency, and ensure compliance with financial regulations and corporate policies for the Americas group of a multi-national company.
Responsibilities
- Assist with managing the month-end close process
- Manage and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are cleared on a timely basis in accordance with company policy
- Be responsible for the general ledger, ensuring maintenance of sufficient, appropriate audit support for journal entries and accurate posting of transactions
- Review and analyze financial statements and related adjustments
- Coordinate the submission of deliverables as required for a variety of audits (financial, regulatory, station, etc.)
- Provide technical accounting guidance to the Finance team when necessary
- Work cross-functionally across all departments including G/L, A/P, A/R, Tax, Billing and Payroll to resolve accounting issues as they arise
- Assist Financial Controller with identifying and establishing process improvements to create efficiencies and continuous timely financial reporting
- Identify internal control deficiencies/weaknesses and assist with creating and documenting effective internal controls to ensure proper safeguarding of assets and accurate financial reporting
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational and financial efficiency
- Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Adhere to local, State, and Federal safety policies, and company rules and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- CPA is required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting from a four-year College or university is required
- Big Four public accounting experience is preferred, but not required
- Excellent leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Able to remain calm under pressure
- Demonstrate a strong business acumen
- Computer literate with proficiency in Excel
- Solid technical accounting background and understanding of general accounting principles
- Strong interpersonal skills balanced with a high level of confidence to influence and present at all levels
- Independence, decisiveness, and the ability to work accurately and independently
- Must be able to comply with local airport, FAA and/or U.S. Customs safety, security, and identification requirements and pass a thorough security background check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak English
