About the Role

Assist the Director of Finance in directing the financial activities of the hotel, safeguarding assets, and preparing financial reports in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and HEI Hotels and Resorts Standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform all accounting functions as needed, including labor management and purchasing control systems to stay within budget.
• Establish and monitor scheduling for all accounting associates, including Night Audit, based on business volume and needs.
• Produce financial statements within designated time frames for hotel management and HEI Corporate requirements.
• Verify compliance with the Finance SOP manual and participate in asset inventories.
• Maintain records storage in compliance with government record retention requirements.
• Prepare and understand sales tax returns and other applicable tax liabilities.
• Manage and oversee all Accounts Receivable functions, including collection calls, and ensure compliance with A/R aging percentages.
• Verify nightly credit card processing and timely cash deposits.
• Assist with balance sheet reconciliations each period and review problem accounts with the Director of Finance.
• Identify, screen, and attract management candidates from outside the company.
• Train associates in job responsibilities and comply with attendance rules.
• Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• B.S. in Accounting.
• One year of experience in Hotel or Hospitality-related Finance and Accounting.

Skills

• Knowledge of hotel financial statements and reconciliation of A and L accounts.
• Analytical approach to problems with a high regard for detail and accuracy.
• Sound administrative and managerial skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.
• Effective training, coaching, and counseling abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.
