Accounting Manager

About the role

David Weekley Homes is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join the Accounting and Finance team at our Houston home office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, team member development, project management, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop a team of 4 to accomplish team objectives
• Oversee the month-end close process, produce timely and accurate financial statements
• Review journal entries, monthly reports, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Manage the annual external audit and quarterly bond compliance
• Manage special projects and perform ad hoc analysis
• Set up accounting processes for new business initiatives
• Identify and drive process improvement, working with existing automation tools, and facilitate development of new tools
• Respond to questions from operations and senior management timely, providing a high level of support

Requirements

• Four-year degree in Accounting, required
• At least 5 years of management experience in an Accounting field
• At least 3 years of financial analysis experience
• Strong technical skills and ability to pick up new things quickly
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite required
• Comfortable working with all levels of management
• Ability to recognize and adapt communication style to needs of recipient
• Strong commitment to provide superior customer service
• JDE and Essbase experience a plus

Work Location

This is an on-site position located at our headquarters near the intersection of I-10 Katy Freeway and 610 W Loop N Freeway in Houston.
