Accounting Manager
BDI Partners is a lower-middle market investment firm headquartered in Raleigh, NC that focuses on companies supporting the Built Environment across the United States and Canada. By specializing in one industry, the firm provides its partner companies with targeted expertise in strategy, operations, human capital, and financing to support infrastructure development and growth, both organic and through acquisitions. This role is for one of BDI’s portfolio companies and is not a direct position with BDI Partners.
About the role
The Accounting Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Raleigh, NC created to support the next phase of growth. You’ll take ownership of day-to-day accounting operations while working closely with finance leadership as a trusted strategic partner. Ideal for someone who thrives on building structure, solving problems, and shaping a role from the ground up.
Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain the general ledger and oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing.
- Assist with revenue recognition, contract review, and related accounting considerations.
- Partner with operations and leadership teams to improve financial visibility and reporting accuracy.
- Assist in the development of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Maintain fixed asset records and support capital expenditure tracking.
- Prepare financial analyses and management reports to support business decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA is a plus.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting principles, and internal controls.
- Experience with both the execution of day-to-day accounting activities and the development of scalable processes and controls.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in the Microsoft Suite.
- Big 4 accounting experience is a plus.
- QuickBooks Online experience is a plus.
This role is based in Raleigh, NC (North Hills) and requires on-site work.
