Accounting Consultant

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee full-cycle accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close.
  • Support and maintain revenue billing processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely invoicing.
  • Aid with M&A activities, including acquisition integration, purchase accounting support, balance sheet validation, and process alignment.
  • Oversee and improve accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment workflows.
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances across balance sheet and P&L accounts.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and key stakeholders.
  • Partner with finance, operations, and business leaders to streamline accounting processes and strengthen internal controls.
  • Participate in special projects and business initiatives as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to:
    • Revenue accounting and billing
    • Full-cycle accounting
    • Month-end close
    • Account reconciliations
    • Financial reporting
    • Accounts payable operations
  • Previous experience working as a consultant, contractor, interim accountant, or project-based accounting professional.
  • Experience supporting accounting projects during periods of transformation, growth, acquisitions, or system implementations.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to quickly assess processes, identify gaps, and implement solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to partner across multiple business functions.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant to support a growing organization through a variety of complex accounting initiatives and day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, thrives in fast-paced environments, and has a proven track record of successfully delivering results in consulting, contract, or project-based accounting roles. Experience within the oil & gas industry is a plus but is not required.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $85.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
