Responsibilities
- Manage financial activity tied to dispute resolution cases, including recording payments, fees, and settlement amounts accurately.
- Reconcile account activity against internal records and the general ledger, identifying and correcting inconsistencies as they arise.
- Examine case outcomes and post related transactions correctly to patient accounts and accounting records.
- Investigate payment variances by working with payers and internal stakeholders to resolve outstanding issues in a timely manner.
- Track required deadlines and compliance checkpoints, raising concerns when items need attention or escalation.
- Produce recurring and ad hoc financial summaries to support leadership review and regulatory oversight.
- Aid in audit preparation by gathering documentation and explaining accounting activity connected to dispute resolution work.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to entry-level clerical staff on established accounting procedures and workflow expectations.
- Suggest practical process enhancements that improve accuracy, reduce delays, and strengthen financial controls.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in accounting, billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or healthcare finance.
- Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement practices and revenue cycle operations.
- Strong Excel capabilities and experience using accounting platforms such as QuickBooks or comparable systems.
- Ability to handle multiple deadlines independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Solid analytical skills with the ability to research issues and resolve discrepancies effectively.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and a consistent, detail-focused work style.
Qualifications
