About the role
Buckner International is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join the Financial Services department. This role offers a full-time position with a hybrid schedule based in Dallas, TX at 12377 Merit Drive, Suite 900.
Responsibilities
- Timely and accurately input cash deposit entries daily and reconcile to bank records weekly to ensure all deposits have been entered into the general ledger.
- Timely and accurately input accounts payable invoices for the Financial Services department for payment. Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approve them for payment within the payable system daily.
- Aid in the weekly check run, ensuring all invoices have been approved for payment and resolving issues such as coding, missing documentation, incorrect dates, etc.
- Create review files to identify potential issues before processing and assist with the printing and distribution of checks and EFT notices.
- Prepare checks/EFT notices for mailing and distribute them. Timely and accurately update the outstanding checks listing monthly and work with campuses to resolve items on the listing and send out letters when necessary.
- Assist with expense reimbursement reports and timely and accurately process foster care family payments in accordance with established guidelines.
- Timely and accurately input wire transactions each week.
- Aid with the administration of PaperSave, setting up and training new users, responding to and troubleshooting user issues, and escalating issues to PaperSave for resolution.
- Timely and accurately input journal entries and regional checks. Assist with the completion of manual journal entries and file uploads during the monthly close process.
Requirements
- Requires in-depth understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge, typically gained through work experience in accounting.
- Ability to define problems, draw conclusions, and make decisions dealing with abstract variables.
- Related college coursework preferred.
- High School Diploma (or G.E.D.) required.
- Minimum 3-5 years prior related experience required.
- Proficient ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Excellent organizational skills needed to provide attention to detail and maintain routines.
- Excellent professional writing skills needed to compose inter-office correspondence and correspondence to donors, vendors, and a variety of other individuals, groups, and business entities.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
