Summary of Job Duties
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for managing collection procedures for delinquent accounts on external invoices; managing collection procedures for delinquent accounts on travel and p-card invoices; counseling and providing responses to students, parent, debtors, and other University offices regarding any billing inquiries or other information; and reviewing and monitoring checks that are approaching their stale date, are outstanding, or expiring.
This position is governed by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of an associate's degree in general business, business management, or a related field
- Applicable Equivalencies May Be Considered On The Above Qualifications
- At least three years of experience in fiscal operations
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting from an accredited institution of higher education
- Experience with University of Arkansas systems: Workday, UAConnect, and Transact
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of collection agencies' procedures and methods
- Knowledge of auditing principles and procedures
- Knowledge of computers and software application programs
- Knowledge of customer service techniques
- Ability to record fiscal data and manipulate data to generate complex reports and documents
- Ability to communicate using clear communication skills which could include but not be limited to the following methods: personal face-to-face contact, using email or other written correspondence, and through telephone contact
