About the role
We are seeking experienced Fractional Accountants to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will work with multiple clients across diverse industries, handling comprehensive accounting functions to support their financial health. You will manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciliations, financial reporting, and general ledger management. Building strong relationships with clients and their internal teams is essential, as is your ability to adapt quickly to different industry requirements and accounting systems. Responsibilities
- Support clients with their daily transactional accounting needs, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Manage accounts receivable processes including applying payments, recording transactions, and collecting receivables in accordance with payment terms
- Perform all accounts payable functions, including reviewing invoices, ensuring compliance with vendor agreements, obtaining approvals, and coding invoices correctly
- Conduct bank, loan, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations as requested or needed
- Assist client accounting teams in balancing the general ledger by preparing trial balances and reviewing reconciling entries
- Support the preparation of routine monthly financial reports, annual legal entity filings, and tax submissions
- Coordinate with auditors and provide necessary documentation for audits and compliance
- Complete payroll processing accurately and on schedule as per client requirements
- Assist clients with sales tax compliance, including preparing and reviewing multi-state sales tax filings
- Perform filing and administrative duties as requested by clients
- Facilitate cash management activities to optimize liquidity
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal teams to ensure high-quality service delivery
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of experience working with small to mid-sized businesses in bookkeeping or monthly close accounting
- Proficiency in accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Desktop, or Enterprise; adaptable to other systems
- Active or inactive CPA designation is a plus
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
- Willingness to travel within the greater Chicago metropolitan area to client sites
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships
- Flexible, tactful, and mature demeanor with the ability to work with diverse personalities
