Access Associate, Part-time, Day Shift

About the role

In a customer-service oriented manner, you will interview patients and/or their representatives to collect required registration data—including demographic, financial, and insurance details—verify accuracy, obtain necessary signatures, and communicate mandated patient information. You will also handle insurance verification, precertification/authorization, co-payment collection, and financial-assistance discussions.

Responsibilities

• Manage incoming calls and provide necessary information.
• Greet patients and/or representatives and provide direction as needed.
• Schedule or pre-schedule patient appointments.
• Interview patients and/or representatives to complete the registration process per departmental policy.
• Identify services without a payment source and communicate financial-assistance or payment-arrangement options.
• Verify insurance eligibility/coverage and obtain precertifications/authorizations when applicable.
• Collect and process co-payments, deductibles, and other payments; provide cost estimates when applicable.
• Review charges in charge-review work queues for completeness and accuracy.
• Ensure accuracy of all collected data while meeting regulatory requirements outlined by departmental policy.
• Communicate with external customers such as payers, physician offices, and other departments.
• Accurately set up new patient records via Care Connect.
• If qualified, interpret on occasion.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Flexibility and transportation to other medical-group or affiliated locations may be required.

Requirements

• Two-year degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
• Intermediate computer skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• One year of customer service experience preferred.
• Associate degree preferred.

Pay

$17.85 – $20.00 per hour.

Schedule

Part-time, 20 hours per week (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), every other weekend and holiday.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work—exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may require walking or standing for brief periods.
