About the role

The Marine Engineering Technology Department (MARE) in the College of Marine Sciences & Maritime Studies at Texas A&M University located on the Galveston Campus invites applications for up to 5 full-time Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) and/or part-time Temporary/Part-Time (Non-Tenure) positions.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, deliver, evaluate, and assess marine, electrical, or mechanical engineering, auxiliary systems, diesel/steam/gas turbine propulsion, green and sustainable shipping, offshore engineering, decarbonization, naval architecture, shipbuilding, blue energy, and/or marine alternative fuels courses.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Participate in all aspects of the department's activities, including outreach.
  • Serve the profession.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in marine, electrical, or mechanical engineering, auxiliary systems, diesel/steam/gas turbine propulsion, green and sustainable shipping, offshore engineering, decarbonization, naval architecture, shipbuilding, blue energy, marine alternative fuels, or a closely related engineering or science discipline in the field in which the faculty member will teach.
  • Master’s degree in marine, electrical, or mechanical engineering, auxiliary systems, diesel/steam/gas turbine propulsion, green and sustainable shipping, offshore engineering, decarbonization, naval architecture, shipbuilding, blue energy, marine alternative fuels, or a closely related engineering or science discipline in the field in which the faculty member will teach and significant teaching experience at the college level in the field or in a related field.
  • For Of The Practice faculty titles: Master’s degree in marine, electrical, or mechanical engineering, auxiliary systems, diesel/steam/gas turbine propulsion, green and sustainable shipping, offshore engineering, decarbonization, naval architecture, shipbuilding, blue energy, marine alternative fuels, or a closely related engineering or science discipline in the field in which the faculty member will teach and/or An extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting including marine, electrical, or mechanical engineering, auxiliary systems, diesel/steam/gas turbine propulsion, green and sustainable shipping, offshore engineering, decarbonization, naval architecture, shipbuilding, blue energy, marine alternative fuels, or closely related engineering or science discipline in the field in which the faculty member will teach.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree; Significant teaching experience at the college level in the field or a related field;
  • An extraordinary record of accomplishment in an applied setting.

Skills

Expertise in marine, electrical, or mechanical engineering; auxiliary systems; diesel/steam/gas turbine propulsion; green and sustainable shipping; offshore engineering; decarbonization; naval architecture; shipbuilding; blue energy; and/or marine alternative fuels.

Pay

Commensurate with experience.

Schedule

4.5-month or 9-month academic appointment, and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning in fall 2026 or spring 2027.
