About the role

This faculty position serves on academic support and bar passage, with primary responsibility for teaching and student-centered programming that advances academic success and bar readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of the law school’s academic support program through direct instruction in seminars and workshops;
  • Lead the integration of academic support into orientation, including presentations during 1L orientation;
  • Design, administer, and pedagogically use practice exams across the 1L curriculum;
  • Provide individualized academic counseling and targeted interventions for students most in need of support, including leadership of the second-semester program for at-risk 1Ls and ongoing work with at-risk upper-division students;
  • Teach and help lead the school’s bar preparation efforts, including planning, designing, and teaching the “Preparing for the Bar” course;
  • Develop and implement bar-support programming such as bar mentoring and bar exam meetings for 2Ls and 3Ls;
  • Provide direct, individualized bar-support conferences and tutoring for bar takers;
  • Supervise and mentor academic support teaching assistants through recruiting, training, evaluation, and ongoing professional development;
  • Assist with hiring, training, and managing bar-prep mentors—working closely with colleagues across departments to ensure coordinated support for students preparing for the bar exam.

Requirements

Candidates must have a J.D. or equivalent degree and be admitted to the bar of any U.S. jurisdiction after passing the bar exam.

The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, and a strong record of academic achievement and teaching effectiveness. Experience working with law students and a passion for supporting their academic success and bar readiness are essential.

Skills

Strong communication skills, ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, and a proven track record of academic advising and mentoring are required.
