About the role
The individual will serve as the Associate Department Head for Education and the Psychiatry Residency Program Director.
Responsibilities
- Create departmental synergy and enhance departmental teaching by aligning UME and GME goals with the department and college's broader educational mission.
- Integrate the UME and GME curriculum, ensuring students have the necessary knowledge to transition into graduate training.
- Identify and resolve curricular deficiencies, promoting continuous quality improvement and accreditation readiness.
- Create a robust teaching culture through consistent evaluation processes and feedback mechanisms for faculty and learners.
- Lead the enhancement and expansion of the psychiatry residency program, guiding a team of faculty and residents.
- Develop educational programs in a fiscally responsible manner, filling critical positions to advance the college's mission.
Requirements
- MD, DO, or equivalent medical degree (e.g. MBBS or MBChB)
- Current certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- Minimum three years of administrative and/or educational experience
- Unrestricted Texas medical license or eligibility to obtain one
Qualifications
- Prior leadership experience in UME or GME (e.g. UME course or clerkship director, residency director, or associate/assistant director)
- Record of scholarship and/or research activity in the behavioral sciences and/or medical education
- Record of faculty mentorship
- Record of departmental or organizational leadership positions
