About the role

The College of DuPage is a comprehensive community college located 27 miles west of downtown Chicago. It offers nine associate degrees and a variety of professional and technical certificates, preparing students for a lifelong passion for learning. Primary Duties And Responsibilities

• Provide academic assistance to students in the Writing, Reading, Speech Assistance Area of the College of DuPage.
• Offer orientations in classroom or online.
• Provide writing, reading, and public speaking assistance to students in all academic disciplines taught at the College of DuPage, in person or online.
• Maintain current and relevant knowledge in subject areas and general study skills.
• Serve as a resource to peer academic assistants and other academic assistants.
• Develop and participate in training on related topics.
• Develop and compile resource materials.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate's degree required, including English 1102 and Speech 1100 with a grade of B or higher and a GPA of 3.3.
• Experience: Experience teaching or providing academic assistance in a related discipline preferred.
• Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in spoken English required.

Working Conditions

• Fifteen (15) to twenty (20) hours per week during academic terms only (approximately 40 weeks per year).
• Some evening or weekend hours may be required.
• Up-to-date skills in relevant technologies.

Pay

This position is subject to a background check and education verification at the expense of the College.
