About the role
Under direct supervision of the NSC CARS, the Academic Advisor performs basic professional student services work, utilizing a combination of high-level interpersonal skills and personal student contact. Academic advisors help students develop intentional decision-making skills and strategies for academic success and work on problems from the investigation and analysis stage through the solution and implementation stage. The primary work processes typically follow well established work procedures and guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Provide developmental, academic advising to potential and current students on a drop-in, referral, or appointment basis.
- Support ongoing retention and student success efforts including targeted engagement with prospective students throughout the admissions cycle.
- Coordinate outreach activities supporting the University's focus on student success, retention, and graduation.
Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
- One year of full-time equivalent experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level.
Preferences
- Knowledge of e-advising tools.
- Experience with public speaking, outreach or recruitment, planning workshops, or facilitating training sessions.

Pay
CSU Classification Salary Range: $53,784 – $76,104 per year.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm; Summer: Monday–Thursday, 7:00 am–5:30 pm.
