About the role

The Academic Advisor supports students in developing academic strategies for success and works on problems from investigation and analysis through solution and implementation. They provide developmental and academic advising to both potential and current students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide developmental and academic advising to potential and current students on a drop-in, referral, or appointment basis.
  • Support ongoing retention and student success efforts including targeted engagement with prospective students throughout the admissions cycle and coordination of outreach activities.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
  • One year of full-time equivalent experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level.
  • Educational equivalency in job-related field may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferences

  • Knowledge of e-advising tools.
  • Experience with public speaking, outreach or recruitment, planning workshops, or facilitating training sessions.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

$53,784 - $76,104 per year.

Schedule

Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer: Mon-Thurs 7:00am-5:30pm
