About the role
The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Academic Advisor, Lee Business School.
Responsibilities
- Provide information and guidance to students to assist them in defining and achieving their educational and life goals while adhering to university and college academic requirements and standards.
- Participate in student-related interactions from recruitment through graduation.
- Participate in recruiting events.
- Provide academic guidance to students via appointments, e-mail, presentations, information sessions.
- Provide students with resource referrals to other campus offices as needed.
- Create, edit, and disseminate information for handouts, web site, catalog, etc.
- Review and process paperwork students submit for review.
- Maintain relationships with colleagues on campus and at other Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) institutions.
- Maintain relationships with the college’s department chairs and faculty.
- As needed, serve as an informational resource to the college’s deans, department chairs, faculty and staff regarding academic policies and administrative procedures.
- Participate in UNLV’s Academic Advising Council.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- One year of related professional experience.
Qualifications
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of academic advising principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using technology for advising purposes.
