Responsibilities

  • Advise and counsel students on academic progress related to majors, minors and certificate programs within the School of Business.
  • Hold scheduled advising appointments to assist students in tracking progress towards graduation.
  • Respond to student inquiries via email and phone regarding course selection, and program requirements.
  • Conduct unofficial transfer credit evaluations for incoming transfer students.
  • Participate in transfer sessions and registration process to support students.
  • Collaborate with Transfer Services regarding transfer credit related issues.
  • Collaborate with Registrar's Office regarding degree audit accuracy and course substitutions.
  • Guide students to appropriate campus policies regarding grade grievances, course withdrawals, complaints, pre-requisite issues and transfer appeals.
  • Review graduation rosters and ensure required course substitutions are submitted.
  • Continuously review student degree audits to verify program compliance and alignment with financial aid guidelines.
  • Ensure students have the required pre-requisites for the courses in which they are enrolled.
  • This position may occasionally require early evening work during late registration periods to support operational needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university. Experience working with students in a two-year or four-year college environment (e.g., student services, advisement, admissions, tutoring, residence life, etc.). Broad knowledge to address varied student concerns, and situations. Excellent computer skills and the ability to work independently with students, faculty, department chairs and administrators.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with Banner, DegreeWorks (or similar degree-audit systems), CRM Advise, or EAB Navigate. At least one year advising experience with undergraduate and/or graduate students. Knowledge of SUNY General Education requirements and Financial Aid policies.
