About the Role

The Army National Guard relies on sophisticated electronic equipment both on and off the field. As a Special Electronic Devices Repairer, you will maintain and ensure the operational readiness of critical instruments, including:

• Night vision equipment
• Electronic distance and azimuth-orienting devices
• Battlefield illumination devices
• Nuclear, biological, and chemical warning and measuring devices
• Other specialized electronic tools

Responsibilities

• Test instruments, navigational controls, and simulators
• Read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals
• Replace defective parts and components
• Enforce quality control measures
• Troubleshoot and inspect equipment
• Supervise and train other Soldiers (advanced level)

Skills

• Interest in mathematics and problem-solving
• Experience or aptitude for electronic equipment repair
• Strong attention to detail

This role develops skills applicable to civilian careers with organizations such as the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, or the National Weather Service.

Training

Job training consists of:

• 10 weeks of Basic Training (learning fundamental Soldiering skills)
• 25 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including classroom instruction, hands-on equipment practice, and field exercises under simulated combat conditions

Training is paid, and you may qualify for tuition assistance.

Most non-prior service candidates earn between $200 and $250 per drill weekend, subject to change.

Requirements

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or hold a high school diploma or GED certificate
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
• Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
