About the role
The Army National Guard relies on Special Electronic Devices Repairers to maintain sophisticated equipment both on and off the field. This role involves servicing night-vision gear, electronic distance and azimuth-orienting devices, battlefield illumination tools, nuclear/biological/chemical warning and measuring instruments, and other critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Test instruments, navigational controls, and simulators
- Read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals
- Replace faulty parts and perform quality control checks
- Troubleshoot and inspect equipment
- Supervise and train junior Soldiers (advanced-level role)
Skills
- Interest in mathematics and problem-solving
- Experience or aptitude for electronic equipment repair
- Strong attention to detail

Training
Job training consists of:
- 10 weeks of Basic Training (Soldiering skills)
- 25 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (classroom, hands-on practice, and field exercises under simulated combat conditions)
You’ll earn a paycheck while training, with access to tuition assistance.

Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- High school junior, diploma, or GED
- Ages 17–35
- Pass a physical exam and meet legal/moral standards
