About the Role

The Army National Guard relies on Special Electronic Devices Repairers to maintain sophisticated equipment critical to field operations. In this role, you will ensure the operational readiness of night vision equipment, electronic distance and azimuth-orienting devices, battlefield illumination tools, and nuclear, biological, and chemical warning and measuring devices.

Responsibilities

• Test instruments, navigational controls, and simulators.
• Read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
• Replace faulty parts and perform quality control measures.
• Troubleshoot and inspect equipment for defects.
• Supervise and train other Soldiers in equipment repair (advanced level).

Skills

• Interest in mathematics, problem-solving, and electronic equipment repair.
• Strong attention to detail.

Civilian Career Opportunities

Training in this role can prepare you for civilian careers with organizations such as the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, or the National Weather Service.

Training

Job training consists of:

• 10 weeks of Basic Training, covering fundamental Soldiering skills.
• 25 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including classroom instruction, hands-on equipment practice, and field exercises under simulated combat conditions.

You will earn a regular paycheck and qualify for tuition assistance while training.

Requirements

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or hold a high school diploma or GED certificate.
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
