About the role

As a Special Electronic Devices Repairer in the Army National Guard, you will maintain and ensure the operational readiness of sophisticated equipment, including night vision devices, electronic distance and azimuth-orienting instruments, battlefield illumination tools, and nuclear, biological, and chemical warning and measuring devices.

Responsibilities

• Test instruments, navigational controls, and simulators
• Read technical diagrams and manuals
• Replace parts and components
• Ensure quality control measures
• Troubleshoot and inspect equipment
• Supervise and train other Soldiers (advanced level)

Skills

• Interest in mathematics, problem-solving, and electronic equipment repair
• Strong attention to detail

Civilian career opportunities

Training in this role can prepare you for civilian careers with the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or the National Weather Service.

Training

Job training consists of:

• 10 weeks of Basic Training (learning basic Soldiering skills)
• 25 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, including classroom instruction, hands-on equipment practice, and field training under simulated combat conditions

You will earn a regular paycheck and qualify for tuition assistance during training.

Requirements

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
• Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
• Must pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
