911 Emergency Dispatcher (Part Time/Full Time)
About the Role
The position involves receiving and dispatching emergency calls (law enforcement, fire, and medical) for the entire county, maintaining accurate and timely communications records, providing pre-arrival instructions on EMS calls, operating county-wide computer mapping system, operating SLED/NCIC computer, and providing 24 hour dispatch support for various agencies.
Responsibilities
- Receiving and dispatching emergency calls (law enforcement, fire, and medical)
- Maintaining accurate and timely communications records using a computer aided dispatch system
- Providing pre-arrival instructions on EMS calls
- Operating county-wide computer mapping system
- Operating SLED/NCIC computer
- Providing 24 hour dispatch support for Department of Social Services, Department of Juvenile Justice, American Red Cross, Department of Natural Resources, Forestry Commission, Animal Control, Public Works, Highway Patrol, and various other agencies
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or the equivalent is required
- Basic keyboarding skills with a minimum of 35 wpm typing speed are required
- Experience in use of Microsoft Windows is desired but not required
- Applicants must have a clear criminal history
- Background checks will be performed through SLED
- A pre-employment drug screening will be done on all potential applicants
