911 Dispatch - Telecommunicator
About the role
This position within the Sheriff's Department offers the opportunity to work with a highly skilled Communications Center Team providing both emergency and non-emergency services to the communities of Chippewa County. All law enforcement, EMS and fire agencies within Chippewa County are dispatched through the Communication Center. Chippewa County Communication Center operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 24/7 environment
- Provide emergency and non-emergency services
- Dispatch law enforcement, EMS, and fire agencies
- Respond in a calm, level-headed manner, thinking quickly in stressful situations
- Serve the community and team members professionally and respectfully
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Previous emergency services dispatch experience
- 911 training
- Previous experience working in a 24/7 environment
- CPR Certification
- Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification
- Time System Certification within one year of hire
- Valid driver's license
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn and use GPS and GIS data
- Possess flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment
