About the role

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is seeking a 4-H Extension Agent based in Butler County, Alabama. The ideal candidate will thrive in a flexible work environment and have a background in Animal Sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve under the supervision of the County Extension Director to provide programmatic leadership and program delivery to build life skills in Alabama youth.
  • Develop leadership and engagement skills to grow and sustain the county 4-H program in five areas of excellence.
  • Diversify program delivery by learning new programs, resources, and skills offered by Program Priority Team (PPT), professional organizations, and networks in the key 4-H program subject areas.
  • Provide leadership to develop an annual county 4-H strategic plan and an annual program plan-of-work.
  • Provide leadership to the county 4-H Youth Council and work with the County Extension Director to provide leadership for the 4-H Adult Advisory Committee.
  • Participate in county, regional, state, and national events as necessary, including required annual assignments to 4-H statewide events and 4-H summer camp.
  • Manage and market Alabama 4-H and local, regional, and state programs in accordance with Auburn University and ACES communications and branding guidelines.
  • Build capacity of volunteers and partners in technical areas to strengthen programming through training.

Qualifications

  • Level 1: Bachelor’s degree and 0 years of experience.
  • Level 2: Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of experience OR Master’s degree and 2 years of experience.
  • Focus of Education: Discipline related to extension programming.
  • Focus of Experience: Experience implementing, managing, or delivering educational programs in a relevant discipline, including formal and/or informal teaching methods.
  • Desired Qualifications: Animal Sciences background.

Pay

Salary range: $40,000 - $50,000 per year.
