The San Juan Unified School District is seeking a full-time teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This position is open until filled and applications are accepted weekly.

About the role

This position is for a SPED Mild/Mod teacher. Candidates must be internal employees to be placed on Column 5; external candidates can only be placed on Column 4. Additional pay includes $5,000 - $14,000 annual stipends for hard-to-staff Special Education positions, $2,000 annual stipends for counselor, social worker, and teacher librarian positions, $3,000 annual stipend for advanced degrees, and $1,000 - $4,500 annual stipends for various extra-curricular activities and $1,500 - $6,000 annual stipends for leadership roles.

Responsibilities

  • Teach students with mild/moderate disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Implement evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions
  • Collaborate with other special education teachers, administrators, and support staff to provide a comprehensive educational program
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed
  • Participate in IEP meetings and other professional development activities
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding special education

Requirements

  • Valid California teaching credential in Special Education
  • Experience working with students with mild/moderate disabilities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Experience with data-driven decision making
  • Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning principles

Pay

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $126,000 annually, subject to negotiation based on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

The length of the work year is 10 months/year, 186 days/year, 5 days/week, with a professional work day.
