About the role
A 26/27 Special Education Math Teacher position is available. The successful candidate will hold a current Oklahoma Certificate as a Special Education Teacher and possess a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. Reporting to Building administrators, this contract is for 182 days plus a New Teacher Induction week, classified as Exempt under FLSA.
Responsibilities
- Perform applicable job functions of a Classroom Teacher.
- Initiate/Participate in categorical eligibility meetings as an expert in a category of IDEA-BPL 101-746.
- Ensure each child has a current IEP with required signatures.
- Maintain and implement IEPs.
- Create and maintain a special education file containing teacher assessments, IEPs, psychological evaluations, and pertinent medical information.
- Provide advice on special education issues to the building principal.
- Offer in-service sessions to staff annually.
- Collaborate, consult, and instruct regular education staff on classroom inclusion, intervention, and modification techniques.
- Assist students with physical, social, and educational needs.
- Inform staff of necessary medical and other information.
- Collaborate with regular education staff on classroom expectations and dynamics.
- Assist students in taking prescribed medication.
- Lift and/or move non-ambulatory students.
- Diaper and assist students with toileting.
- Adapt foods and assist in feeding students.
- Present a professional appearance.
- Display a well-rounded knowledge and understanding of multicultural issues.
- Perform teaching and reporting requirements identified as part of state and federally funded programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of English language, including structure, composition, and grammar.
- Knowledge of mathematics, including arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, and basic computations.
