Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed.
  • Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams.
  • Teach all assigned classes as scheduled throughout the semester in the mode listed (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in Psychology or a related field with an emphasis relevant to the course(s) to be taught (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent).
  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level (including documented teaching assistantships or internships).
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (California State University, Fresno does not sponsor Temporary Faculty for work visas).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field.
  • Experience with a closely-related subdiscipline of Psychology.
  • Evidence of publications in scholarly journals.
  • A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, demonstrated through prior teaching experiences, evaluations, or other evidence.

Pay

The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are typically at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term.

Schedule

  • Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
  • Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed. Appointments are often made just prior to the start of the academic term, and applicants may need to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains in place for two academic terms; those interested in remaining beyond that time must reapply.
