About the Role

The Economics Department at the Craig School of Business (CSB) seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses such as:

  • ECON 40: Introduction to Microeconomics
  • ECON 50: Introduction to Macroeconomics
  • Other classes identified to fulfill educational goals

As an AACSB-accredited institution, faculty members must maintain qualifications consistent with one of the following categories: Scholarly Academic (SA), Practice Academics (PA), Scholarly Practitioners (SP), or Instructional Practitioners (IP).

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2.
  • Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams.
  • Ensure classes meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).

Requirements

Education

  • A Master's degree in Economics or Applied Economics from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.

Experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • Interest in teaching Introduction to Economics (micro and macro) courses.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in the field; or a doctorate degree within the previous 5 years; or recent scholarly activity (peer-reviewed publications).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A PhD in Economics.
  • A commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experiences, evaluations, or other documentation.
  • Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.

Pay

The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master's degree is $5,507–$6,677 per month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are typically at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term, as established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers).

Schedule

This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw from as needed. Appointments are temporary, often made just prior to the start of the academic term, and may require availability to begin teaching on short notice. The pool remains active for two academic terms; reapplication is required to remain in the pool beyond that period.

  • Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
  • Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
