26-27 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) - Curriculum & Instruction
California State University, Fresno’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction invites applications for its temporary lecturer pool. The department delivers lower-division, upper-division, and post-baccalaureate/credential courses that prepare and develop PreK-12 teachers, and also offers two master’s programs (M.A.Ed.-C&I and MAT) plus two advanced-certificate programs in educational technology and research methods. Faculty are active in teaching, scholarship, service, and grant leadership.
About the role
The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate, credential, and/or graduate courses listed in the CI, EHD, and ERE course catalogs. Applicants should specify in their cover letter which course(s) they are interested in and qualified to teach.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams.
- Teach all assigned classes in the mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid) and on the schedule published in the class schedule.
- Adhere to university and system-wide policies as outlined in Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field from an accredited institution (or foreign equivalent).
- Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- For 100-level courses: master’s degree; for 200-level courses: doctorate.
- For credential courses: valid teaching credential and relevant TK-12 classroom teaching experience.
- For online courses: online-certification and/or completion of QLT training before teaching.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commitment to teaching excellence in higher education, evidenced by prior teaching experience and evaluations or other documentation.
- Successful teaching experience in a higher-education setting.
- Recent PreK-12 teaching experience.
Schedule
- Fall 2026: August 19 – December 22, 2026.
- Spring 2027: January 15 – May 26, 2027.
- Appointments are temporary, part-time, and made on short notice as enrollment and funding allow.
- The pool remains active for two academic terms; candidates wishing to stay beyond that must reapply.
Pay
Monthly salary is determined by qualifications and experience within the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358). For a full-time load (15 WTUs), the range is $5,507–$6,677 per month for candidates holding a master’s degree. Starting salaries are typically at or near the minimum; actual pay is prorated based on the number of WTUs assigned each term.
Appointments are contingent on budget, enrollment, and collective-bargaining provisions. California State University, Fresno does not sponsor temporary faculty for work visas.
