26-27 AY Temporary Faculty Pool (Lecturer) - City and Regional Planning

About the Role

The City and Regional Planning Department at California State University, Fresno seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses such as:

• CRP 115: Urban Design
• CRP 135: Planning Law & Administration
• CRP 150A: Community Plan Making - A
• CRP 150B: Community Plan Making - B
• Other classes identified to fulfill educational goals of current students

This is a temporary, part-time lecturer pool from which the department draws instructors as needed based on student enrollment and funding. Appointments are contingent upon budget, enrollment, and order-of-assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement. Positions may be filled on short notice prior to the start of an academic term.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to and implement university and system-wide policies as directed.
• Prepare, deliver, conduct, proctor, and grade lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm/final exams.
• Ensure all classes meet as scheduled throughout the semester in the assigned mode (asynchronous, synchronous, in-person, or hybrid).

Requirements

• A Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning or a closely related field from an accredited institution (or foreign equivalent).
• Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
• Eligibility to work in the United States (California State University, Fresno does not sponsor Temporary Faculty for work visas).

Preferred Qualifications

• Commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, evidenced by prior teaching experiences, evaluations, or other documentation.
• Experience in a closely related discipline.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience, based on the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code 2358 for Academic Year Lecturers). The monthly salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master’s degree is $5,507–$6,677 when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are typically at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary is adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per academic term.

Schedule

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, with positions filled as needed. Appointments are temporary and may begin on short notice. The pool remains active for two academic terms; reapplication is required to remain in the pool beyond that period. Anticipated semesters for 2026–2027 include:

• Fall 2026: August 19, 2026 – December 22, 2026
• Spring 2027: January 15, 2027 – May 26, 2027
