About the role
The School District #82 (Coast Mountains) is seeking a Temporary, Full-time (1.00 FTE) - Grade 7 CORE & Other Teacher for the position at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School, Kitimat, BC. The start date is September 1, 2026, or the return of the incumbent, whichever is earlier. This position may be subject to a gradual return to work plan.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for).
- Experience teaching students at all grade levels.
- Working knowledge of the learning standards, curricular competencies, and core competencies within the revised BC Curriculum.
- Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, and emotional learning difficulties.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Ability to relate well with students, parents, and staff members.
- Committed to following the goals and strategies outlined in the school and district framework for enhanced learning.
Requirements
Interested applicants are required to supply a cover letter, resume, and three (3) professional references. Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate) or eligibility to obtain must also be provided.

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Benefits
- Salary as per collective agreement ($59,867 - $110,712 based on 1.00 FTE).
- $1,000 - $5,000 relocation allowances for teachers from other areas (conditions may apply).
- $3,035 Recruitment and Retention allowance for all teachers (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on FTE).
- Isolation Allowance for remote communities: Hazelton - $1,213, Kitwanga - $1,441, Stewart - $4,547 (paid over 10 months of the school year).
- Medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance benefits as per the collective agreement.
Pay
Salary range: $59,867 to $110,712 (based on FTE, previous experience, and TQS Category placement).
Schedule
Full-time, contract/term position starting September 1, 2026, or the return of the incumbent, whichever is earlier.
